Does anyone have a favourite technique, steps, materials, etc.?

Last team I coached, we had proper strappers and I actually don't even know who they are to ask.

Nigel,

I'm no expert, however the basic steps are:

  • The padding material is positioned a few inches above the knee
  • then the stripping tape is wound round the leg and padding to secure and lock the padding in.
  • Electrical tape is use to unsure that the strapping doesn't come undone.

Basics material requirements for taping legs for lineout lifting are:

Various items are/can be used for the strip of padding material, examples below:

  • Strip of decent carpet underlay

  • Womens tampon - wrapped in medical tape to strengthen it

  • Strip of Foam

  • Cotton pads rolled into a 'sausage' shape then wrapped in medical tape to strengthen it

Alternatively there are lineout lifting supports available Kooga/CCC and a few other kit providers make them and are available from various other webstes such as eggcatcher.com and prodirectrugby.com.

Hope this helps a bit....
