I was recently watching a french 3rd division side with there pre season , and they were running from set markers in different groups of 6 or 7 players around the field and then they had to reach prescribed marker in a set time which was announced in a way of a whistle, almost like a beep test but in running around the field, any one with an idea of this what it is called my french is lousy so could not get it , but only was a french guy who designed it.
The players run for 4 minutes and the have to reach a marker 50 metres apart around the field, first run in 25 seconds, next in 20 and reduces by 5 every round.
Any ideas of the exact name of this any one .. Thanks
gettingthere.

Its a PDT (Phosphate Decrement Test) there are MANY variations of this type of test which is all about developing players' anaerobic power & increasing ther lactate tolerance for game intensity purposes... you could even make one up & develop normative data from your findings- the important thing is making it make sense to YOU & YOUR rugby program. Good luck!
