Hi all,

I'm haveing a great start so far to the season with the Ladies team I coach with 43 tries scored in 6 matches! Left wing is leading the way with 10 tries, the centres have 14 between them and the fly-half has 8 herself. No problems you might think but the 10 is still far too lateral, sits a little deeper than she should and far too many chances aren't actually taken. I am sure that some of the problems are based on trust - the 10 has been told she is the best player for years by a previuos coach and she tries to do far too much on her own rather than being the 'puppeteer' bringing the best our of the other backs. We do lot of handling drills and Villepreux type drills to strighten them up - it is improving slowly but I'd welcome any other good suggestions to help the 10 straighten and fix up midfields better whilst getting the centres to hit more line variety off of her runs be it out-to-in or in-to-out type lines so as to open up that huge spase just outside the 13 channel. Emphasise in training is the preservation of space and fixing defenders using timing and running lines - not just crisp accurate passing which is still a way off being good enough.

Cheers!

play the 10 in the centre and the centre at 10 for a game.

Instruct the centre to be greedy and play laterally etc.

;-)

didds

ps then in fact swap them back at half time when the point has been made.
