Also, if this does not seem to change anything just disconnect a little from the team by not going to things such as team drinking sessions and things.

Coaching My Old Team

Hi.

This is my first post and if it is a repeat then please forgive me.

I have been coaching at different levels for 10 years now even though I am still only 31. At present I coach 3 teams on different nights. I am a level 2 , with view to start level 3 early next year.

This year I have been asked to coach one of my old teams. We have just played 3 pre season games and I asked the guys before every game to go through the patterns we have been going through in training. In every game everything we have learnt went out the window and we went back to playing how the opposition plays.

On Saturday I asked one of our players to do something during the game, I got a look back but no response to what I asked him to do. They scored as a result.

Is it possible to coach an old team or am I always going to be one of the boys and therefore nothing will get through.

Any advice would be greatly recieved, as I enjoy coaching them and I hope to be the one that gets most out of the team, as they are a talented bunch.
