Rugby Coach newsletter – a unique new monthly service designed to help rugby coaches achieve greater success.
Rugby Coach , a unique new newsletter for rugby coachesis launched this week. Written and edited by Dan Cottrell, Rugby Coach searches out the very best rugby coaching tips, techniques and strategies, passing them on to readers.
The newsletter contains practical, workable ideas they can put to immediate use – no matter what coaching challenges they face.
Every month, Rugby Coach will be tackling training issues head-on, providing real-life solutions every coach can use.
Every month it builds up into a comprehensive easy-to-use library of coaching information, covering all aspects of the game.
Easy and convenient
All this information comes via email as a monthly, 8-page newsletter. It’s quick and easy to download and view on screen, and can be printed off for sharing and discussion with fellow coaches and team members.
Because it is sent by email, all the information in Rugby Coach is “hot off the presses”, unlike the slower, more traditional magazine and book-printing processes, where the training advice and game analysis can be months or sometimes as much as a year out of date.
Experienced editor
Editor Dan Cottrell has played and coached rugby for 30 years and has extensive coaching contacts. He has been lucky enough to work with and learn from some of the greatest modern experts, both players and coaches.
Dan’s love of the game started back in 1976 when he was nine and started playing at school. He played for Bath and then Bristol, playing at divisional and county standard.
At Bath, his influence was Jack Rowell, before he went on to manage England. Dan was – and still is – one of many followers of the hugely talented Brian Ashton (the England attack coach). Dan has played under England supremo Andy Robinson when he was captain at Bath. While at Bristol, Dan was taught to kick by Dave Alred, soon to earn fame as Jonny Wilkinson’s kicking guru.
Dan qualified as an RFU rugby coach in 1997 and is an RFU-qualified Level 3 coach. As Head of Rugby at Cranleigh School in Surrey, England, he is responsible for 16 teams and has learned every aspect of the game at the grass roots level.
Dan knows full well that no single person can be an expert on every aspect of the game. That’s why, as editor, he makes sure that he “stands on the shoulders of giants”, drawing on the experience and insights of some of the very best exponents of the game.
