Launch of International Rugby Technical Journal
Rugby Coach newsletter, the monthly rugby coaching advice newsletter launched in 2003 and which has subscribers in more than 50 countries, has been relaunched as the
International Rugby Technical Journal.
The International Rugby Technical Journal will be a journal of record for experienced and aspirational rugby union coaches worldwide, featuring expert technical, coaching and motivational articles written by senior rugby coaches.
The April 2009 launch issue features the following contributors:
- Lee Smith, IRB Oceania Development Officer, on the importance of measuring a team’s strengths and weaknesses before deciding tactics.
- Bob Easson, National High Performance Coach at the Scottish Institute of Sport, on game scenarios for scrum-halves.
- Jason Lewis, WRU Wales Women Coach, on why team “run-throughs” are the most important part of training.
- Mark Calverley, New Zealand based IRB Level 4 Coach, on how to develop a drift defence using zoning.
- Jim Love, Head Coach of Italian Club Viadana, on ways of analyzing the strengths of the opposition.
Editor Dan Cottrell, who co-founded the newsletter, and is an Academy Skills Coach with the Swansea Ospreys, said the relaunch would enable the
International Rugby Technical Journal to promote shared expertise across rugby continents.
“I will be commissioning in-depth articles from leading coaches in all the main rugby nations, ensuring that we have a truly international flavour,” said Cottrell.
International Rugby Technical Journal is available by subscription only (PDF) for £87 per year (12 issues). For details and to order, visit www.rugby-coach.com
