Tramlines rugby practice session

Getting your rugby players to practise the basic skills is an important part of every training session.

Here's a game you can use to practise passing and catching skills, communication, as well as support play.

The idea of this rugby coaching drill is to make the players spread the ball across the pitch to create gaps in the midfield through which to make breaks and penetrate the defence.

Tramlines Rugby Practice

Touch rugby game

Set up a game of touch rugby, 15 v 15, on a full pitch. If a player in possession is touched between the two 15 metre lines, then the ball is turned over. If a player in possession is touched between the 15 metre line and touchline, they have three seconds to offload the ball, or go to ground to allow the ball to be recycled.
