Pass and drop rugby coaching game
The main aim of this rugby coaching session is to get players understanding how to pass and drop into a position to support the ball carrier.
Set up rugby coaching session
- Put four players across one edge of a 15 metres wide by 5 metres box.
- Put three players behind them. Start the ball on one side. Make this ball carrier run forward 5 metres and pass to the player next to him.
- After he passes, he runs to where the receiver started from. All the passers and receivers repeat until it reaches the end player.
- Make the last player on the end of the line turn around and pass the ball back inside.
- The players who were not involved in the first set of passes now move forward to repeat the exercise with the ball being passed in the other direction.

This is a continuous rugby drill, with players passing and dropping in behind and the ball moving from the side.
Develop this rugby coaching session by having only one line of players. The end player now passes back to the player behind him, who then passes the ball back along the line the other way.
Make sure the receivers run straight, attacking towards the ball. Widen the box to challenge the players with longer passes.
