Pre contact rugby warm up drill
Get your players ready for contact with the help of this quick rugby warm-up drill.
Rugby drill set up
Set up this rugby warm-up drill by having a four-metre channel. A player carrying a ball has to run from one end to the other, getting past defenders without being pushed out of the channel.
The defenders stand every five metres in the channel and try to push the runner out using their arms only, not shoulders. Ideally the defenders use rucking pads.

What to say
"Drop hips and keep low."
"Take short, quick steps."
"Keep your head up and anticipate contact."
"Spin and roll as much as possible."
